“Conversation on Gender Equity and Professional Conduct” organized by MLC (3rd Mar 2021)

Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) invited Mr. Paul Pang, Chair of Committee on Gender Equity (CGE) to deliver a talk on gender equity and professional conduct on 3rd March 2021. Participants included 23 staff members and students who attended on site and 67 students who attended on-line, the talk focuses on issues related to sexual harassment and bullying on campus.

Training Session “Preventing and Protecting yourself from Sexual Harassment on Campus” (30th Oct 2020)

To enhance the awareness on gender equity in the University, CGE has invited Prof. Kay Chang, Gender Equity Officer of UM to offer our students a training session on “Preventing and Protecting yourself from Sexual Harassment on Campus” on 30th Oct 2020. With around 50 participants, the speaker shared with the students tips on the relevant topic.

Welcome Reception and Orientation for New Academic Staff 2019/2020 (2nd Sep 2019)

To enhance the awareness of gender equity in the UM community, a presentation by the Gender Equity Officer was arranged during Welcome Reception and Orientation for New Academic Staff on 2nd September 2019. The presentation covered the introduction of the CGE, some legal references including the Guidelines for Handling Sexual Harassment and Sexual Bullying Cases and the procedures to lodge complaints, etc.

The Way to UM – New Students Orientation Programme: First Step to UM 2019/2020 (7th Aug 2019)

To enhance the awareness of gender equity in the UM community, a presentation was arranged during New Student Orientation on 7th August 2019. Presented by the member of the CGE, Prof. Yip Ming-Chuen, the presentation covered the introduction of the CGE, the Guidelines for Handling Sexual Harassment and Sexual Bullying Cases and the procedures to lodge complaints, etc. Moreover, each Residential College has included in its orientation the awareness and prevention of sexual misconduct.

To enhance the awareness on gender equity in the University, CGE has invited Ms. Sylvia Ieong, Founding member of CGE and the first Gender Equity Officer (GEO) of UM to offer our staff a training session on “Understanding Gender Equality, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Bullying” on 31 May 2019. With around 50 participants, the speaker shared with the staff tips on the relevant topic.
