Another in-depth 12-hour training on sexual harassment cases investigation and report writing was conducted by Prof. Echo Luo, Head of Graduate Institute for Gender Studies of Taiwan Shih Hsin University on 30th November and 1st December 2015 for our CGE members and Investigation Working Panel Pool. Around 30 staff members participated.
 

GAES Seminar on Combating Sexual Harassment: Concept, Policies and Practices (7th Nov 2015)

On 7th November 2015, UM representatives attended the “Seminar on Combating Sexual Harassment: Concept, Policies and Practices” arranged by GAES.

In this seminar, Prof. Fanny M. Cheung – founding Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission of Hong Kong and Prof. Japhet S. Law – former member of the Equal Opportunities Commission of Hong Kong shared with the participants on the meaning of sexual harassment and the principles in setting up policies and procedures for handling sexual harassment problems in higher education institutions.

On 6th November 2015, the University invited Dr. Ferrick Chu to give a 4-hour training to our CGE and Investigation Working Panel Pool members on the topic “How to Manage Sexual Harassment Complaints and Conduct Investigation”.

Workshop on Gender Equity – Say “No” to Sexual Harassment (5th Nov 2015)

A 1.5-hour seminar was held on 5th November 2015 to educate students how to deal with and prevent sexual harassment, presented by Dr. Ferrick Chu, Head of Policy, Research and Training Division of Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission.

2015/2016 New Faculty Welcome Reception (27th Aug 2015)

To enhance the awareness of gender equity in the UM community, a presentation by the Gender Equity Officer was arranged during New Academic Staff Welcome Reception on 27th August 2015. The presentation covered the introduction of the CGE, some legal references including the Guidelines for Handling Sexual Harassment and Sexual Bullying Cases and the procedures to lodge complaints, etc.
